I’m writing this way too soon, because at the time of writing we’ve only conducted 3 interviews.
But I’m learning so much from each interview so I want to write down some stuff that’s been helpful.
First, from James Kennedy of ProcurementExpress, I’ve learnt that you can make your own criteria for choosing from the backlog of ideas. We get caught up in “impact” and “reach”, but what about “wow factor”?
“Wow” is hard to quantify, but isn’t everything when it comes to feature prioritisation? I’ve released features no-one has asked for, and they’ve really impacted the company, but then, I’ve released highly-voted features, and they got zero use!
The idea of choosing features because they’ll delight the target customer strikes me as good as any other approach.
